How to Eat Gluten Free at Hummus Bros

Mediterranean restaurant Hummus Bros reckons it was the first to think up the entirely brilliant idea of serving main courses on a beautiful bed of hummus. And it may well be – anyone who knows different speak now or *insert hummus-themed threat here*…

Not only are they original thinkers, these brothers of Hummus are also very allergy friendly – you’ve only got to look at their brown paper bags to see lots of mentions of gluten-free, lacto-free and other allergy friendly – just ask us, they say. So we did.

The kind lady server informed us that many of their hummus toppings were gluten free (all clearly marked on the menu – if you’d like to see the options click here and select ‘gluten free’).

But one cannot have hummus without something to dip in it, can one? Thankfully Hummus Bros have thought of that too – they’ve got gluten free bread, or carrot sticks for the healthiest gluten-haters. We, of course, chose bread.

Our hummus choice consisted of a lunchtime hummus box with guacamole and chicken (£5.50, bread is included in the price). We weren’t that sure what to expect, but what arrived looked quite inviting indeed!

We were a little disappointed that Hummus Bros only have gluten free bread, not gluten free pittas (they’re not that hard to find these days), but the bread was perfectly adequate for mopping up this most delicious bowl of hummus! The addition of chicken and guacamole made it a really interesting and tasty lunch, and one we’d highly recommend. In fact we may return very soon…

Gluten Free: Yes, check out the gluten free hummus options online, you can have your hummus with gluten free bread and carrot sticks, or tortilla chips according to the website, but we were not told about these in store.
